What’s New

The Canadian Ski Marathon is evolving!

For over 60 years, the Canadian Ski Marathon has been something different — not a race, but an adventure.  A personal challenge, and a shared experienceThat’s not changing.

What is changing is how you experience it… and it’s about to get even better!

NEW! Your experience, defined by distance

We’ve simplified how you choose your Marathon experience. It’s no longer about navigating categories; it’s about choosing your distance. “I’m doing the 60 km!” “I’m doing the 45!” Etc. That’s it. Whether you’re joining for a single day or taking on the full two-day experience, your challenge is defined by the distance you choose, from 15 km to 60 km or more. Behind the scenes, the structure remains, but for you, the experience is simple, intuitive, and easy to understand. You choose your distance. You define your challenge

NEW! A reimagined Saturday — Super Saturday!

Saturday is being reimagined as a central moment of the CSM experience.  Built around a start-and-finish format, with participants returning to the same location (Golf Héritage). Marathoniens and Aventuriers benefit from a more accessible and intuitive experience, with high-quality trails extending into the Kenauk Nature territory, while Coureurs des bois continue to ski the full Tremblant-to-Golf Héritage route. A more vibrant start and finish, stronger on-site energy, and more opportunities to ski and celebrate with friends, groups, or colleagues combine to make Saturday a complete experience in itself.

NEW!  Sunday — the shared journey

Sunday becomes the unifying moment of the CSM. Coureurs des bois and Marathoniens start at Golf Héritage and make their way to Montebello, creating a shared progression across the landscape and concluding Quebec’s Nordic Adventure. No matter the distance, everyone moves in the same direction, toward the same finish line. The experience converges into something collective — a true journey, where individual challenges become part of a larger, shared story.

Les Coureurs des bois – the iconic journey!

Gold, Silver, Bronze – 80km per day

For those seeking the original Marathon experience, the Coureurs des bois remain unchanged. Still 80 km per day, still point-to-point, still from Village de Mont Tremblant to Montebellothis is the Marathon in its purest form. A true journey across the landscape, where endurance, commitment, and tradition come together.

The legend continues.

More ways to be part of the Marathon

This evolution opens the door to more ways to experience the Marathon. Whether you’re discovering it for the first time, looking for a one-day adventure, or returning to take on a different challenge, the format is designed to meet you where you are. The result is a more accessible, more flexible experience, one that stays true to the spirit of the Marathon while inviting more people to be part of it.

Les Coureurs des bois

The mythical journey

For over 60 years, the Coureurs des bois have embodied the spirit of the Canadian Ski Marathon.

This is not simply a distance.
It is not simply a challenge.

It is a journey across the land — one that echoes the path of those who once moved through these forests, guided by endurance, resilience, and instinct.

A passage through the wilderness

The Coureurs des bois is the Marathon in its purest form.

Over two days, participants ski the full 160 km of the Canadian Ski Marathon course, traveling section by section across a changing winter landscape.

  • 5 sections per day
  • More than 10 hours of skiing per day for most participants
  • A continuous progression from Mont Tremblant to Montebello

This is not a race.

But it is a true test.

Each day, participants must reach the fourth checkpoint within a defined time in order to continue — a quiet reminder that this journey demands both strength and discipline.

Three levels. One path.

The Coureurs des bois unfolds in three levels, each deepening the experience:

Bronze — The first crossing

To complete the full 160 km over two days is, in itself, an achievement.

No backpack is required.
No prescribed overnight experience.

Only the distance.
Only the effort.

For many, this is the beginning of something much larger.

Silver — The added burden

With Silver, the journey becomes heavier — literally and figuratively.

Participants complete the same 160 km, now carrying a 5 kg backpack throughout both days.

The added weight changes everything:

  • Your rhythm
  • Your energy
  • Your relationship with the terrain

The journey becomes more deliberate. More demanding.

Gold — The full immersion

Gold is where the experience becomes legend.

Participants complete the full 160 km while carrying everything they need — including what is required for a night outdoors.

On Saturday evening, the journey pauses at the Claude Bélanger Gold Camp.

There:

  • You are given hay, hot water, and firewood
  • You sleep under the winter sky
  • You share the experience with others who have chosen this path

Everything else, you carry.

From start to finish.

This is not just endurance.

It is immersion.

A challenge governed by time and light

The mornings start early before the sun rises.

Each day, all Coureurs des bois must leave the fourth checkpoint before the official cut-off time.

Only then can they continue to the final section and complete the day’s journey before nightfall.

There is no clock to beat.

Only the day itself.

A journey that continues

For those who return, the journey does not end.

After completing Gold, participants may earn additional Gold bars by repeating the challenge in future years.

And after four Gold completions, something changes:

A permanent bib number is awarded.

A number that stays with you.
A mark of your place in the history of the Marathon.

More than a challenge

The Coureurs des bois is not defined by speed or ranking.

It is defined by:

  • Commitment
  • Endurance
  • Tradition

And by the quiet understanding that, once completed, you are part of something that transcends the event itself.

The journey is long.

The path is demanding.

The legend is yours to earn.

NEW!

A reimagined Saturday — Super Saturday

Saturday is no longer just part of the Marathon.

It becomes a destination in itself.

Super Saturday is designed as a central gathering moment — where skiing, community, and celebration come together in a vibrant, festival-like atmosphere.

A complete experience — on and off the trails

Built around a start-and-finish format, with participants returning to the same location (Golf Héritage), Super Saturday offers a more accessible and intuitive experience for Marathoniens and Aventuriers.

Participants ski high-quality trails extending into the Kenauk Nature territory, returning to a lively and welcoming central site.

At the same time, Coureurs des bois continue their iconic journey from Tremblant to Golf Héritage — connecting tradition with this renewed energy.

More than a ski day — a true gathering

From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is different.

  • A dynamic start and finish area
  • A shared space to connect, regroup, and celebrate
  • Opportunities to ski alongside friends, colleagues, and fellow participants

Whether you are skiing 15 km or 60 km, the experience extends far beyond the trail.

A festival atmosphere at Golf Héritage

Throughout the day, Golf Héritage comes alive:

  • Warm tents to relax and regroup
  • On-site kiosks and services
  • Music and animation create a vibrant environment
  • A continuous (light) buffet offering to refuel and recharge (limited)

As the day unfolds, the site becomes a true hub of activity — welcoming participants, families, and visitors alike.

A memorable finish to the day

As the sun sets, the energy builds.

The day concludes with a fireworks display, bringing everyone together in a shared moment of celebration — a signature Super Saturday experience.

Planning your day

To preserve the on-site experience, parking at Golf Héritage is limited (approximately 350 spaces).

Participants are encouraged to:

  • Plan transportation in advance
  • Consider carpooling or organized transport options

Additional logistical details will be provided to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.

The spirit of Super Saturday

Super Saturday transforms the Marathon into something more:

  • A ski experience
  • A social gathering
  • A shared celebration of winter

It’s a day where performance meets atmosphere — and where the Marathon becomes as much about being there as it is about skiing.

NEW!

Sunday — The Shared Journey

Sunday is where everything comes together.

After a day of individual challenges, distances, and experiences, the Canadian Ski Marathon becomes something unified.

A single direction.
A single destination.
A shared journey.

One route. One movement.

On Sunday, Coureurs des bois and Marathoniens start together at Golf Héritage and make their way toward Montebello.

No matter the distance you have chosen, you are now part of the same progression across the landscape.

  • Same starting point  – different start times
  • Different distances to complete
  • But always moving in the same direction

👉 Toward the same finish line.

A journey across the landscape

As the day unfolds, the trail becomes a living ribbon of movement.

Participants advance through forests, open spaces, and changing terrain — not as isolated individuals, but as part of something larger.

You pass others.
Others pass you.
Moments are shared, even without words.

This is where the Marathon reveals its true nature.

From individual challenge to collective experience

What begins as a personal goal becomes a shared story.

  • The effort is yours
  • The distance is yours
  • But the journey is collective

Sunday transforms the experience: from “my challenge” to “our journey.”

The finish in Montebello

Every path leads to the same place.

As you approach Montebello, the energy builds — the final kilometers carrying the weight of the entire weekend.

Crossing the finish line is more than completing a distance.

It is:

  • The conclusion of your effort
  • The culmination of a shared experience
  • The end of Quebec’s Nordic Adventure

The meaning of Sunday

Sunday is not just the second day of the Marathon.

It is the moment where everything aligns:

  • Effort
  • Landscape
  • Community

And where every participant, regardless of distance, becomes part of the same story.

Register now!

No matter which experience you choose, you are part of the same Canadian Ski Marathon.

Different distances. Different formats.
But one shared spirit.

For Coureurs des bois Gold participants, the journey takes on a unique sense of continuity — from the Paroisse St-Jovite Church, where the Friday Gold Dorm is held, to the Montebello Church at the finish. A true church-to-church route that frames the experience from start to finish.website
